My 1,000 Words a Day Explained in Full Details

My 1,000 Words a Day Explained in Full Details

This 1,000 words a day strategy is something I been doing now consistently for about two weeks now. I talked a little about this in my August 2013 stats report, which I covered a number of my goals for this month.

Unfortunately, my best friend died and just threw a monkey wrench into my goals for this month. This death kept me from writing a 1,000 words a day for about three days which really hurt my momentum.

You have to be able to market your business to the masses, and do it in a way that it will serve your audience the best. This means staying consistent on any or all of the projects that you’re working on.

This leads me to the reason behind the 1,000 words per day concept. People want to know why do I want to write that many words per day and the entire reason behind it. Hopefully, by the end of this post you will have a clear idea of why I’m doing this, and the reason why you should be doing it also.

The Why

No matter what people say or do, everything in life is done for a reason. My reason behind the 1,000 words is to create over 365,000 words within the next 12 months. Now that is a lot of content online floating around for someone to find it.

The enormous treasure chest filled with content will be directed back to me and my website. This will build creditability online with massive amounts of content, not only on my website but also on other websites.

These other websites are sites that I will be guest posting on that are “like” websites like mine in nature as marketing sites, small business sites, blogging sites, and any website that caters to people wanting to learn how to market a website to the masses.

The more places that I can put my brand, such as, Antonio Coleman or Coleman Marketing Group, then the more reputable my brand becomes. Now at the same time, this gives me more exposure to this site which I will explain more about below.

So, to sum up the (why) it all comes down to building on site and off site content that will be shared to thousands to benefit my website traffic.

The Benefit

Traffic – The #1 reason for doing this is to build traffic to the website by creating content people will love to read. Whether this is on my website or a partners website as a guest post. The content I’m creating is all about getting targeted traffic to my website by creating valuable content that people will share.

the numbers

I’m looking to only post 2 pieces of content to my blog every week for the next 12 months. Each post is around 1,000 words, so that puts me at 88 posts for the next 12 months which equals 88,000 words out of 365,000 that equals 277,000 words left to post else where.

Now, the 277,000 words left will be put into guest posts, which if you divide that by 1,000 then you will get 277 guest posts on other top marketing blogs online.

So, me being the person that I am when it comes to numbers that I’m looking to seeing at a middle range of 50 visitors back to my website per guest post. This comes from my link being on the guest post website pointing back to my site.

This traffic is calculated in my head from the potential traffic that I will be getting from the guest posting websites readers, and the traffic I will get when shared on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus and Linkedin.

This is a low number, but I’m looking at the realty numbers because some will come in lower while others will be higher, so I took the medium of the two.

277×50 = 13,850 visitors from guest posting. This not an enormous number, but it is targeted traffic that will convert. So, even though its low I’m still happy knowing that the people who will come to my site are people who will take action.

Important: I even added another 1 to 2 thousand visitors coming to my site because a lot of these guest posting websites syndicate content from these sites. This will mean that they’re bringing me traffic also, and another place for a back link which I will cover now.

Back-links – Getting a link to your site from another website is called a backlink. Now, the only things that I will be linking back to my website from the guest posting websites are my home page or my ebook how I got 474,095 visitors to my website only working 2 hours a day.

These are the main two links I will be pointing back to my website. I’m not really going after seo of any keywords with this, because I want it to be as natural as possible.

277 guest post times 2 backlinks equals 554 backlinks to my website. To go back to the syndication thing, you can expect to at least double this then this comes out to 1,108 backlinks for the year.

Success – Now for the first year these numbers are OK to a certain degree. These numbers are only based on the 1,000 words a day concept, but if I wanted to grow these numbers by being everywhere online, then I could do the following also..

  • YouTube Marketing Videos/tutorials

  • Marketing Podcast

  • Interviews of Marketing Bloggers

  • Forums Marketing

  • Blog Commenting on Marketing Websites

Doing these things above will at least put me over the 50,000 visitors a year mark, which will grow my brand even faster. I’m a one man band on this one, so when the site starts to make good money then I will reinvest it back in getting these things done.

I will be able to hire a team to work around my projects so that we can get them all done simultaneously. I could get these things going now, but I’m working a full time 9 to 5 so I’m only getting about 2 hours or so work in each day.

Once the wheels start turning and rolling on their own, then this will be the time to implement more marketing techniques like I listed above.

Well this is my plan behind the 1,000 words a day concept. I hope you adopt the same plan of action for your own website. Hate to go but I’m at 1,094 words for this post so I have to go till next time.

RIP to My Best Friend

RIP to My Best Friend Backup Your Laptop or Computer Before it CrashThis Friday I experienced the worst lost anyone could have gone through. This was my friend for the past three years, and I loved her so much. I’m saying today RIP to my laptop that went home to computer heaven this past Friday.

Yelp, my laptop died and all my dreams died right along with it. You may be asking yourself what exactly do I mean my dreams died along with it. All my documents, photos, videos, seo software’s, marketing tools and any other form of important information is gone.

My hard drive decided to have a heart attack, which I tried to call my computer guy to operate, but found out it was too late. The hard drive is dead, and there is no hope of getting it to ever work again.

How Did It Happen?

First and foremost, every computer or laptop has an hard drive which will fail in the near future. It’s not if it will fail, it’s when it will fail. The sad thing about it is that I know this first hand from using computers for my business for the past 10 years.

After all of the experience that I have in backing up my websites just in case it goes down. I still neglected the fact to backup my computer, even though I thought about it this past week. My plan was to backup it up this month, because it started to act a little funny so the red flags went up for me to do something.

Unfortunately, I was too late to the fight, and it died before I got the chance to (say goodbye) backup my data. Can you say sick as a dog!!! Everything went through my mind from our kids child hood pictures to all of my projects I have been working on when it comes to my websites.

My business logos are gone, music, movies and countless numbers of other important items are all gone to heaven. But, I’m not writing this just to vent about what happened to me, I’m writing this so that it educates you on how not to let this happen to you.

You see below I will show you a couple of things you can do to protect your computer so that you can sleep easier at night. Even though it may look like the world has come to an end for me, but I always bounce back and this is how.

How To Protect Your Computer

First, I would like to say that this is a tragedy in my eyes because of all of my work on that computer. I’m not caring too much about the projects, because I can just keep moving on with the growth of my website without those. What makes me sick are the family pictures, and I know if you’re anything like me, then your family means everything to you.

So for this reason don’t cry for me because there is a solution for me and for you also. For one, the hard drive is completely damaged but if I did want to be able to get the data off the hard drive then I must seek out a “data recovery company” Just for thoughts, I decided to Google a couple of these companies and found out real quick that it will cost anywhere from $500 and up just to get the data off. Ouch

So instead of doing that I decided that it would be best to take my hard drive to Best Buy so that the geek squad can fix it. Yes, it will cost a lot also but at least I can walk into a trusted place of business that I know will perform the job of extracting the data. So this is an option that I will be doing soon, and it will cost me a pretty penny but I’m here to save you a headache by following these steps of backing up your data.

RIP to My Best Friend 1

Window Users

Go to – Start – Control Panel – Back up your computer

This is the free way of doing it and the same way I’m backing up my laptop I’m on now. Thank god I had another new laptop in the house, or I would have been in big trouble until I bought a new one. So, what I’m doing now is using this free method of backing up this computer every Sunday night.

Basically, all you’re doing is going into the settings and backup your computer which, can be saved to computer, CD/DVD, email or uploaded to an online server all automatically.

Now, this is what I’m doing every Sunday starting this past weekend to have the system backup my laptop all on autopilot. So if the computer hard drive fails “which it will one day”, then I will have it saved in other places where all I will have to do is download it back to my new hard drive.

Talk about sleeping peaceful at night

My Take Away

What I have learn is to not put things on the back burner till tomorrow because it may just be too late. If you have important things on your computer, then after you finish reading this, I hope that you take the appropriate steps I listed above to protect your data.

Plus, for those of you who have websites then think about backing up your website today also. This is something I know about as well, so learn from me its like losing a family member when all of your hard work online gets lost forever because of hackers or software failure.

How I Balance a 9 to 5 and Grow My Online Business all in One Motion

How I Balance a 9 to 5 and Grow My Online Business all in One MotionWhen I started this website it was solely created for my business of helping people/small businesses grow their brand through creative marketing. This marketing stands from having a website, doing seo, implementing email marketing and a number of other traffic building tacts. These were the basis of things that I wanted to share because they’re the things that will help grow my revenue.

You have to realize that marketing is the center stone of my everyday life, and maybe it will be until the end of time because I just love it so much. There are things that I want to share that has nothing to do with online marketing at all. I told myself that with this website I wanted to educate the world on marketing but I also wanted to be transparent and talk about my life as I grow this business.

You see I feel as though if people can see around those curtains and reserve what’s really going on, then they may get a better picture of who you are. I want people to know who I am just to let you know that I’m an average guy who is juggling a full time 9 to 5 and working on my businesses (Coleman Marketing Group LLC) all in the same motion.

One thing I like the most are the people who keep it so called real, and don’t hide behind fake websites with over blown website stats. These are the people who sell you that dream of how easy it is to make a living online by online working 1 hour a day. Not saying that you can’t work one hour a day and make a good living online, I’m just saying it goes a lot deeper than that.

To be honest I will be showing you how you can work one hour a day and still be productive online, but I will be writing about that later. To stay posted on that then just get my free “SEO in Practice” ebook to the right and you will be notified by email when I create that post.

So to get back to the topic in hand I would like to give you guys a front row seat of my life of how I’m working full time and growing my business at the same time. The whole reason behind this post is to educate you on if you’re working just like I am, then you still can have an online business if you can manage time. I personally give no excursus on holding myself on the highest pedestal of productivity, and I understand no one can hold me back except me.

So for this reason before I get into how the day of Antonio Coleman goes from A to Z, I would like you to take out 9min of your time and check out one of the best motivational videos online. It hasn’t been seen over 2 million times for nothing. Seeing this video will make you understand the reason why I stick to the schedule that I do below, and the reason why you shouldn’t have any excuses in making time for your dreams. Check it out.

Working Hard

First, I would like to say that I went out and purchased a big dry erase board over a year ago to keep up with my daily tasks. For those of you who are bad at staying on task then getting one of these boards will make your life so much easier. Basically all I do is write down all my tasks for that week that concerns my online marketing business which I must stick to if I want to be productive.

Plus, to give you a heads up, the total number of hours I must spend each week on my business is around 20 hours a week while working a full time job. So to give you an understanding of it I’m working a total of 60 hours per week to maintain a living while I grow my business. You will not believe how hard this is, but I’m about to show you how I tackle all parts of it.

Remember this..I’m also doing this around living my life so it gets a little complicated but this is how I have mastered it.

Going to Work

5:20am: My day starts around 5:20am I get up and head off to work, which I get there around 6 or so and start my day which can last anywhere from 8 to 10 hours. Now right off the back I have eliminated a full day at work by working outside the home to maintain life as the business continues to grow.

2:00pm: From here I get off working the so called real job that most people like to call it. They really don’t consider working online is a real job because you don’t have to clock in and out. Basically, I get off working and hurry up and jump on my laptop to take about 15 minutes each day checking emails. This is all of the time that I spend on emails each day, which is 15 minutes because if you want to be productive then you have to minimize doing things that just waste your time.

Next, I spend an hour and a half writing for this website, which I do only twice a week. Meaning, I’m only writing content for this website for a total of three hours per week which is a good number if I want to get the most out of my writing. It forces me to get my ideas out asap and move on to something else. Now the time is around 3:30 and I have already gotten in about one hour and forth five minutes of work before even getting home.

Even after getting home I have tons of things to do, and it may be around 4 or so which is practice time. My son and daughter are awesome athletics and they play sports so to stay on top of our game I must practice and workout with them five days week. Yelp that is five days a week if I want to them to have the tools to be successful on and off the court and fields.

So until at least bout 6pm I’m working out and practicing, but now it’s time to kick into high gear and get some more work done. Depending on the part of week I might go into doing some networking online for about 4 hours a week. On a day like this, I only want to do no more than an hour and a half and make up the rest throughout the week so that it adds up to 4 hours.

Now it’s 7:30 and I completed my networking which I will be showing you guys how to do on this website in the coming weeks. Now it’s been a tough day where I have worked at my real job for 8 hours and completed my business work in 3 hours in 15 minutes. This is called being incredible productive.

Now, the other hours are spent doing seo for myself and other clients that I have, which is only around 5 hours a week total. I’m doing a case study on how I’m able to dominate the search engine by getting one of my website pages to the top of Google by doing SEO. Here is the case study if you want to follow along.

Plus, I say 1/3 of those 20 hours I spend working online comes from me doing about 6 hours of guest posting. If you’re not sure what guest posting is, then just imagine I’m writing something and asking you to put it on your website so I can benefit from your current readers and mostly importantly a backlink to my website. So I call this piggy back marketing which I explain more in my “how to market your business guide” I did some time back.

Staying Consistent

Now as you can see, if you take that number of me working 3 hours and 15 minute per day, and multiply it by 7 days of week you will get over 21 hours of online work. To be honest, some days are longer and some are shorter, meaning one day I might work online for 2 hours and others it maybe 4 hours. But overall it adds up to a way that allows me to have a so-called 9 to 5 and grow my business all in one motion.

This shows that I can have my cake and eat it to right? I can have that job that keeps everything balanced until those numbers of my online business grows to where it allows me to step away one day. The truth is that a job is exactly what it is, which is a JOB. You work for someone else and they pay you pennies compared to what they make which is fair right?

I see a job as a place I go to where it educates me, and motivates me even more to keep pushing on in my online business. When I hear people complain everyday about how they hate their job and wish they could find something more appealing to them. What I say if you hate this job, then you will hate the next one also so why continue to sing the same song.

Why not start your own business online and reap the benefits of having passive income. If you need help getting started and don’t want to waste your money on things that just don’t work, then contact me I will help you get that ball rolling. Being transparent is my goal for this website which is what I will continue to do by spreading the word about marketing.

If you want to be successful in life, then you must go out and become an owner of something, because all the successful people are the ones who own it.

· Their successful because they own real estate

· There successful because they own that beauty salon

· Their successful because they started that home based business

Look, my fingers are about to fall off because I’m over 1600 words for this post, so let me wrap it up by saying the following. If you can go out and put in 8 to 12 hours a day for someone who cares less about you, and only want you to work to make them rich, then why not turn some of those hours into growing your success..I am so join me

Monthly Stats Report for August 2013

Monthly Stats Report for August 2013 7Welcome to the first of many monthly stats that I will be doing here on CMG. The reason behind these posts is not to brag or show off my website performance from month to month. My goal is to do a couple of things with these stat reports which all comes down to me being productive, and at the same time giving you a front row seat of how to grow a website from A to Z.

My Personal Growth

First, I’m doing these posts starting this month of September 2013 because I want to track my performance. This website has been online for a total of 6 months now which equals up to about 160 days. About two months of that time was all about setting the website up from design to adding important content such as my contact page, services page, about me page and the ask Antonio page.

For the past 4 months, I have been working on adding valuable content to the website which is centered around marketing. It took about three months to write some good quality content for the casual readers who do come along. I wanted to create tons of posts before I really started marketing this website to thousands if not millions of people.

Now for this reason, last month was my first month of really marketing the website to the masses, and below I will show you how I was able to gain 893 visitors in the month of August. This on top of the backlinks I’m building to the site, to the overall search terms I’m ranking for gives me a front row seat on the growth of my business.

This Will Help You Also

I’m one of those people who will probably give you my last piece of pecan pie, and my family knows how much I love that. Helping people build their website’s traffic by marketing their website in the cleanest form is what I will be helping you achieve here on CMG. This is why I will be sharing everything I will be doing to grow this website to the masses.

You will be able to look over my shoulder and see the things that I do to build more subscribers, make more money, and most importantly building my brand. You will have the blueprint map of building a successful website without having to spend tons of money on advertising.

Just remember the stats for this site are very low compared to a so called big blogger website, but to me that’s the beauty of the site because I will be building it from scratch, and you will have an opportunity to follow along. Not only follow along, but you will be able to implement the same steps with your own website.

So-What Happened in August

The month of August was my first full month of doing some sort of marketing. I had everything in place, so I felt like it was time to get the ball rolling. Before the month even jumped off good enough, I received a big surprise from the website Technorati. They took the pleasure of ranking my marketing website as one of the top 100 small business website online.

Next, I took the pleasure of putting together a how to guide of marketing a real estate business. I did this because I talk to so many realtors and brokers who know how to sell a house, but have no clue on how to market their business to the masses without breaking the bank.

One of the things I’m proud about more than the slight growth of the website is my survival tool resource page. I understand some people don’t know where to start when it comes to marketing, and that’s one of the main reasons for failure. For this reason, I decided to sit down on a Saturday and list every program and software that I use every day to run my business. If you ever wondered what us marketers use on a daily basis to grow our businesses, then now you can stop wondering.

Finally, I took the first step into letting a whole new audience know about my marketing website. What I did was that I networked with 20 marketers online, and created what we call a “List Post” These type of posts can be about anything, but the sole reasons behind them are for the following..

· Networking

· Traffic

· Getting shares on Twitter and Facebook

· Maybe even a backlink on their website

· Building Long Term Relationships

The overall stats of this post once it was posted about a week ago came out to..40 Likes, 80 Retweets, 33 Google Plus’s and only 12 Linkedin shares as of 9/4/2013. All of this equaled up to a whopping 285 targeted visitors to this page.

Niche Site Duale 2.0

Now, for those of you who don’t know, I’m what they call a SEO GUY. Yes, I do all of the other forms of marketing from email marketing, networking to you name it. For years I’ve been doing SEO, which is going after a keyword and getting it ranked highly in Google and the other search engines.

Lately I have been participating in the “Niche Site Dual 2.0” challenge, which me and I would say couple of hundreds or thousands of people are a part of. We are trying to see if we can rank a website/web page in the search engine in a certain amount of time. Me being the person that I am, and knowing that I could surpass the competition, decided to play along and document my case study here.

Important: I’m doing this for a friendly competition, but I’m also doing it for traffic and profits.

My Stats

895 visitors are what I was able to muster up from the little marketing that I did do this past month. Most of this came from some guest posts, networking, seo, and a little social media here and there. In the screen shot you will see how from March to now the traffic has climbed the ladder of success.

I got these stats from Jetpack by wordpress, which is a free plugin that keeps up with all of your incoming stats. It tells you the referring sites, search terms, and keeps track of all your traffic until the end of time..Best park is that it’s free.

Besides Jetpack, you can use Google Analytics which is another free tracking tool from Google. I installed this to my website in late April which really hurt me on monitoring the traffic. I say this because the Google Analytics back office showed that the site only got over 1,000 visitors from April to now, but the jetpack has been installed since day one and it shows that I’ve gotten over 1,736 visitors.

Google Webmaster

Once again, if this is something that you’re new to, then Google Webmaster is nothing more than a big analysis tool. It keeps track of search terms, backlinks to your site, and many other useful programs. My main goal is to use it to track the backlinks coming into my site, and show which keywords I’m ranking for.

This screen shot shows that I have about 313 backlinks pointing to the website. I’m sure, and to be honest I’m 100% sure that there are even more links pointing back to my site. The issue is that Google takes about 2 to 4 weeks to find and calculate your links.

Hint: This is the main reason that it takes months to rank a website, because Google’s process of evaluating your links takes time. I think that 313 links is pretty great for a six month old website.

Search Queries Ups and Downs

Inside Google webmaster, they have what is called the search queries section. This is where the software keeps track of all of the search terms listed in their search engine from your website. As of me writing this monthly stats report, I have over 226 search terms in the search engine.

Now, most of these are from my seo efforts from this niche site duel I have been working on. This effort of mine has allowed my site to be showed in the search engine “impressions” over 12,000 times with only about 150 clicks.

If you take a quick look at the screen shot, you will notice that the searches just drop off the face of the earth. Why? It can be many factors and most of them have to do with the Google Dance, which is common. What we go through as marketers is that one day you’re doing good in the search engine and the next day you’re entirely off the map.

It will come back up sooner or later, and this is the reason why I don’t depend on search traffic 100%. Below I will explain my goals for the next month, and let you know exactly what I will be doing to not only keep my seo efforts going, but also how I will grow this website through creative marketing..

Monthly Stats Report for August 2013 12

September Goals

My Goal for September 2013 will be to get anywhere from 1500 to 2000 visitors to the website. These people will be targeted people who are readers, buyers, and searching for valuable information in my niche which is marketing. Yes, to get to this number I will need some help from you when it comes to sharing the site content, but the overall work load will be done by doing the following.

Guest Posting

I’m looking to write 16 guest posts this month on an average of 4 per week. Each guest post will be about online marketing, local marketing, or just plain old seo marketing. I will spend a total of 6 hours per week writing, editing, and posting them to other websites.

These guest posts will be anywhere from 500 to 1000 words each, and jammed packed with quality content. Hopefully by doing this, I will be able to put my website in front of other readers and build my brand which equals more traffic.

2 Blogs Per Week

I am a big believer in writing so that people can read what’s hiding inside that head of yours. To be able to grow my website, I will need to add valuable information at least twice a week filled with marketing ideas, tools, strategies and more. This will give me 8 valuable pieces of content for the month of September, which is the norm of blogging times.

This blogging is part of my 1,000 words a day I must write to cover the guest posting and the content on my site. Talk about a guy doing lots of work just to grow a website from A to Z.

Networking

Relationships are the #1 way to grow a website for long term success. If you want to grow your website to millions of visitors like I will do for CMG, then you must be ready to network. I mean going out and introducing yourself to another top website owner, and holding a conversation in some way or another.

How I will do this is through my “list posts” which I will do 2 of them for this month. I’m looking to network with 100 website owners this month, and hopefully I can get on their radar so that I can get my brand in front of their readers. I’m looking to go about doing this by getting interviews from them, or asking them questions about different forms of marketing.

However, the networking will be a grueling and time consuming task. I understand that if I want to grow this community for myself and you readers, then I must turn my hat around and get to work.

Lots of work for September, but someone has to do it.

Thanks for reading and please share and comment…
