The Advance Guide to Dominating Local Small Business Directories by Antonio Coleman

Last chapter we talked about how to do local keyword research, and dominate your market. That chapter maybe one of the most important chapters because, if you can’t do research on who’s searching for your product or services then you’re in big trouble.

You need to know what keywords people are using to find what you have to offer. Not doing this in the right manner leaves your business out to dry while the competition steals all the online customers.

Yes, no matter what business you’re in, people are searching online for what you have to offer so don’t overlook this like it’s just an online thing. If your business is offline and you feel like it’s important to be listed in the big yellow book “YellowPages,” then you better believe it’s 100 times more important to be found online. Reason being is that no one carries around that big yellow book anymore, but they do have mobile phones at their fingertips.

Wink, Wink, doing local searches…get it

So today you have the keywords you want to target, let’s build this online presence so hundreds if not thousands of people can find your business without me spending tons of money on advertising. For this whole chapter I will still be using the “Shreveport Real Estate” keyword as my local business I’m trying to dominate. Remember over 1,900 searches for that keyword per month, so if I have a real estate business in Shreveport best believe I want to be found locally.

The best way I’m going to do this with or without a website, is that I’m going to be using business directories to do this. The power of using business directories will just blow your mind by the time you complete this chapter.

What Are Business Directories?

How has the internet changed since the early days when I started back in the late 90’s? I can’t even tell you if I remember seeing business directories online. Plus, the only one that most people knew about was from Yahoo. Think you had to pay tons of money just to be listed in that one.

Gratefully now there are tons of these sites that allow you to submit your business information for free which will be indexed by the search engines. If you do any google search on most big name companies you will most likely see the yellow page, manta, Angie’s List, Google places and much more I can’t list.

These sites are here to give you, the searcher, an overview looks as of the company you’re searching for. You don’t even have to search a company name, all you have to do is type in “the city + keyword” then it will spit back targeted information.

This is a great place to have your business due to the many factors that I will be talking about here in the minute. But overall just understand these sites are free to be listed on, so it will be wise to dominate this space of marketing if your competitors are not.

How Do They Work?

To the average person, these sites are nothing more than a big yellow page book to get a phone number, address, and ect. But good old marketers like me see them as gold mines for local businesses, and this is the reason I created this local marketing guide.

I know that these sites are powerful if you did the right keyword research, and willing to put in a little time to get them filled out completely.

So all you have to do as a business owner is to go to any of these sites, and set up a free account. First, make sure your business is not already posted if so then all you have to do is claim it.

claim your listing by Coleman Marketing Group

Once you have an account, now it’s time to fill out all the information from A to Z. Don’t leave any stones unturned because you want as much content on your listing than the local competition. The more complete your profile listing, the more visibility you will have over your competitors.

The setup of these sites are easy as pouring a glass of water. You can easily setup a fully customizable profile in about 20 to 30 minutes if you really take your time. So, before you know it you will have built your first online presence, and one step from someone searching and finding your business.

How Can Business Directories Grow My Business?

I remember for years people thought it was best to start with your website when it came to local rankings. Marketers said it was best to put in more work right off the back to get your own site to the top of the search engines before your small business profiles.

Since the search engines over the years has turned a whole 360 in the way they rank websites from its algorithm such as panda, penguin and the latest the hummingbird. The releases of these animal updates really hurt the old way of doing SEO for your own site.

Now it’s taking a real long time for your personal site to get that authority it needs to even rank locally. So, instead of starting with your website it’s best to build your online presence through the major business profile sites, and then bring your personal site along later.

Now it’s time to learn how these sites help grow my brand and overall business? The first thing you as a business owner need to understand is that people are searching for that local car dealership and ice cream shop. So the only way you will be able to get in front of all those people who are searching for these places of your own business is to be everywhere.

Being everywhere is going back to our example for this local marketing guide. Our keyword is “Shreveport real estate” so every word that someone searches for online that contains “Shreveport + any real estate type word,” then I want to be the company profile or website to come up.

Now, if I do the research it will show that there are about 1,000 keywords that contain my main keywords and/or similarly searched terms. So these 1,000 words are getting anywhere from 5k to 10k total combined searches per month.

 shreveport real estate keyword research

So it’s my job to create hundreds or not thousands of places online that contain these keywords so whenever someone searches for anything in this industry concerning “Shreveport real estate” my content or profiles will come up.

By having this sort of online presence is more powerful than any type of advertising you can name. What other platform allows you to put your brand in front of potential 10k people per month that targeted. This is all forms of free marketing that your competitors are not doing so if I were you then I will be on the first bus to get this done today.

There are 25 to 50 small business profile sites that are the cream of the crop that you can start using today by setting up your company information on. But to be honest, there are hundreds and thousands of them out there which you can be using also.

In this guide, I’m only going to list the top 50 so you don’t get too overwhelmed. The other thousand or so I have are mainly the ones I use for my clients who really want to target every area of the market so their domination is felt throughout.

Secret of Local Domination

Now comes what you all have been waiting for which is the process I will take if I was doing this for my business. Now this is all by hand so it’s a little time-consuming, but it works if you want to do it yourself or hire someone to do it for you.

The whole key to this is to optimize each and every small business directory you sign up for. You have to make sure each one of them hit on at least 3 to 5 of the keywords you’re looking to rank for locally.

Your goal is to have all the 55 profile websites above fully filled out and optimized for at least 3 keywords. So, now this puts you at around 150 keywords that a potential customer/client can find you by doing a search on the major search engines.

Just simply doing this easy to do action is the difference between an extra 100 or so people visiting your place of business each month. Only because you took action to build the beginning stages having an online presence that you’re in the running of dominating your local market. Now the game gets even better when you have your business listed on 100, 500 to even 2,000 small business profile sites optimized for every keyword in your market. “Numbers Don’t Lie”

The Daily Game Plan to Follow

What I said before is that doing this by hand is time-consuming, but best of all it’s free to do. So, you have to crank the muster to do it or hire someone to take care of it.

So, what I would do if I had to do this myself manually, is that I would create a game plan that will be easy to implement, and not kill too much of my time away from my business.

First – I will take a two-week approach on this project to get my business listed on all the 55 business profile sites above. The goal is to get all of my profiles completely filled throughout within two weeks to get the ball rolling.

The objective will be to do and complete three business profiles per day at a mere 20 minutes per profile. Now it will be possible to do this in this amount of time because you should keep the information you need at your fingertips in some notepad.

This is your name of the business, address, phone numbers, logos and ect…having these items present on your hard drive will be as simple as copy and paste. So, if you’re doing this manually then you should not be spending no more than one hour per day to get this project done in two weeks or so.

Second – Now it’s been two weeks, and all of your profiles are completely done. You should be able to search the name of your company and see all the listing you created. Now, if you don’t see all of them don’t worry too much because sometimes the search takes a couple of days or weeks to index them.

Now comes the fun part, and the reason why you need to build an online presence to be able to dominate your local market.

Potential Results

Just wanted to say that results for your business will be a lot different than your counterparts. Depending on your industry, some businesses will get more searches per month versus others.

Meaning in the “Shreveport real estate” market gets around 1,900 searches per month. While another industry who focus on “Shreveport Ice Cream Shops” may only get 300 searches per month.

No matter the number, just understand that as long as you’re getting targeted traffic it doesn’t matter how big or small the searches…never forget that. So never get upset when you do keyword research, and the monthly traffic is low because no matter what somebody will search for what you have to offer.

Here are some examples of the way your listing title or description should look like. Either way, you do it should bring up one of your local business profiles…such as

  • Coleman Investment – Shreveport Real Estate
  • Coleman Investment – Shreveport Homes for Sale
  • Coleman Investment – Shreveport Home for Rent

If you’re able to get this into your title, then I would say do it because it will help you get that ranking you need locally. But if you find it difficult to add this to the title of your listing, then enter something like this in your description. I say this because some business directories allow you to do this and others don’t so just give it a try.

So, after two weeks of completing these profiles, and you’re ranking not for your business name or your local keywords then it’s time to step up your game. Meaning your listing will need a little SEO love.

Most of your listings will rank well regardless because of the authority of the listing website. But, a good majority of them may lag behind, so you should do a little SEO by using my SEO in Practice ebook. This book will educate you on all parts of SEO, so you can use the basics to move your listing up the ranking.

The Numbers

Once you put in the work of moving your listing up the ranking, you should start to see results. These results will come in the form of more phone calls, website visitors, reviews if you have the right incentives in place.

One of the things most businesses don’t do is that they don’t track their ROI (return on investment) now even though you didn’t spend money on this project if you did it yourself. But, you did put in quality time which is worth something in the long run.

So, the best thing you can do is to track where all of the calls are coming from. Are they coming from the newspaper advertising, radio promotion or are they coming from the online presence. Best believe most of it is coming from the online presence you have which should be around 90% or even 100% if that’s the only marketing you have out there.

One way to track this is by using the free way of just taking notes of the calls that come in. You can simply ask “how did you find us,” and if they say online then record that in a notebook. This is a cheap way of doing it if you don’t have money to spend on something. I suggest you do this to make your life much easier.

I say get a 1-800 number and forward it to your main number. There are many companies online that will help you set this up very inexpensive. Now you will be able to log into your back office account and see how many calls are coming in from your online presence. This is by far the best way because you’re not forcing your customers to remember how they got your number.

Over time you should see tons of calls coming in which will be targeted, and more willing to do business with you. If done right no matter what business you’re in, you should be getting at least 100 more calls per month which turn into 1,200 new calls per year. You wouldn’t have gotten it if you didn’t take the approach of building an online presence. Believe me, it would be hard to get 1,200 people to walk through your doors by doing traditional marketing.

Reviews Builds Creditability

When people are searching for that “Shreveport Attorney” and they come across the listing profiles, then they have a choice to make. That choice usually comes down to the reviews left by previous clients.

The good and bad things about the internet is that it’s a place for freedom of speech. People can go on any review website, and just trash your business or talk highly of you. That line is very thin, and its something you must monitor on a daily basis.

But, what will separate you from the rest is having reviews on your Google Places, Yelp and other listing websites you created. Your goal is to ask for reviews when appropriate. I’m not going to go into depth on how to get more reviews because I will write more about that in a separate blog post.

Just make it your duty to stay active building your reviews online by asking customers to review you. One way of doing this is by having signed up saying that you’re listed on certain business profile sites, and encourage them to leave a review.

Place a link from the profile listing sites on your website which can be easily found. You can just ask them to head over to your website, and follow the link to leave a review.

Last Thoughts

With this guide of dominating your local market, its purpose is to educate you on what’s working for those across the world. Yea, I know many of you are used to the old way of advertising which is the norm for most but it’s time to take on a new way of building your brand.

Many small businesses don’t even know how powerful it is to have an online presence. Hopefully, I at least gave you a blueprint to follow on at least getting some sort of online presence. This could have gotten even deeper but I think just for this guide, it covered the hot spots to get you started.

It’s important to every business to have this setup asap. No matter what industry you’re in it will be wise to build up your visibility today.

But, I’m not going to leave you hanging, so if you need more educational help getting this rolling then don‘t hesitate to contact me. I know most of you are not computer savvy, so help is here for you even if you just need a question answered.

Chapter Three The Advance Guide of Local SEO Video Marketing to Dominate Your Local Market

Coleman Marketing Group 2014 Goals and Possible Achievements

This post is about 23 days too late from the beginning of the year until now. My hope was to get this out right after my december stats report which talked about the happenings of December, and a little about my goals for this year.

Today I’m going to touch on all parts of my goals for this year for CMG. I’m so excited about what’s going on already this year, so I know that if I can keep the momentum, then good things are bound to happen.

Why I’m Doing This?

There are a couple of reasons why I’m revealing to the world my goals for my own business. Number one is for you to take the time and think about doing this for your business. If you have any sort of business no matter if it’s an ice cream shop, donut shop or even a real estate company. It would be wise to write down the goals you have for yourself and your business.

My other reasons for this is to give me a chance to track the growth of my business from year to year. This is the first year I’m officially letting the world know about me, and CMG. Just the other day I did a good job of this to start the year off in my own community by doing an interview for our local paper called the Minden Press Herald.

Knowing where you are today, and where you want to be in the future is so important. Most small businesses go into the new year with blind folds and not knowing how they’re going to grow their business. Many of them keep the same path as last year from spending money on things which they don’t know if it’s working or not.

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Goals, Goals, Goals

CMG Podcast

One of the first goals that I have for this year is to start my very first podcast on local marketing. I’m so excited about this due to the fact that I will be able have a platform to share all my valuable techniques of dominating your local market.

cmg podcast

Most of the podcasts will be about me and me only, but at times I will bring on some other great marketing friends to share their expertise. So, about the end of the year I’m hoping to have anywhere from 40 to 50 live podcast shows on iTunes. I just can’t get started until I get a quality microphone, which I’m doing research on as of this post.

Due date to get this up and going is mid February.

 My First Book

Believe me when I tell you that I’m not any big time writer at all, but I do know local marketing and for this reason I’m making a big push in writing a book on this subject. The only thing I have done to date is put together my table of contents.

That’s completed so now all I’m working on is creating the cover of the book, which will be sold through Amazon. I’m looking to release this book sometime this spring, and I’m shooting for March or April as the release date. The book will only come in a downloadable form the first year, and after that, I will release it in hard back form. I just want to build up some momentum with it online and later on go main stream with it, like targeting the New York Best Sellers. “Wish Me luck on that One”

Don’t’ get too comfortable because I’m looking to write at least three to four books for the year on other forms of marketing, so stay tuned.

Due date for this is March or April

Network with 400 to 500 Marketers

Talk about being on the grind to make things happen for the year of 2014. When I told my family that this is the year to take our business to the top of the mountain, I wasn’t joking at all.

Now you may be saying how in the world will I be able to network, and connect with that many people? The honest truth is if I email ten marketers per day that equals up to 300 contacts per month. Looking at only about 40 to 50 of those people to even respond, puts me around my goal for the year.

So the big elephant in the room is why do I want to do such a thing? Well, first when it comes to building a brand online or even offline, you must have fans which are people who cheer for you. Networking is all about building relationships and taking advantage of those when needed.

Now, I have many uses for these relationships which will take all day to cover. So as of now, know that you must be willing to build friendships online and offline if you want to grow your brand.

Due for this is December 31, 2014

Keeping it moving..

Obviously, I’m going to keep pushing the content out on this website from talking about local marketing, seo, networking and everything else I can think of to help you succeed.

You see these goals are short, sweet, and to the point but they are powerful collectively. This is what I call hitting homeruns when it comes to marketing. Most clients don’t get this when I say it’s better to hit homeruns in our marketing, versus hitting singles.

Meaning, to be productive growing your business, you must be willing to put in lots of time on things that are time consuming to get where you want to get. If you want to go from 100,000 a year to 150,000 the next year then you best crunch the numbers, and see how you can achieve that.

More than likely, you will have to hit the home runs in this marketing game to gain that growth you’re seeking. So, this year is all about hitting home runs from podcasting, writing my books to networking with over 400 to 500 marketers.

Now, I would like to know what your goals are for the year, and how do you plan on implementing them? Take a moment and share your goals below in the comment section.

Special Thanks to Minden Press Herald of Minden La from Antonio Coleman

I wanted to give a special thanks to Minden Press Herald, and reporter Melissa Harris who conducted an awesome interview. They really went out of their way to feature me and my company on the second page of their newspaper, which I know is one of the most viewed sections of the paper.

The cover took up about half of the top layer of the page, which had a picture of me smiling like I just hit the lotto. Over all, I loved it and it’s just the start of many things to happen for “CMG.”

Antonio Coleman at Minden Press HeraldMy goal for this interview was all about introducing myself to the public, so that people will know there is someone out there willing to help when it comes to marketing. Our city of Minden needs this more than ever compared to the research that I have done on other cities.

We need to get more creative in having websites for every business that has products or services. If you don’t have a website that gives your business a platform online where people can learn more about your company, then you’re in trouble.

What you will read in this article is that I replied that I’m not trying to gain clients by pitching my services. I’m just trying to educate people on what’s working for other small businesses around the country and world.

I talked to hundreds if not thousands of marketers, bloggers, and business owners who are doing things outside of the box to grow their businesses. So, it’s mind boggling to see us here in Minden not doing what we have to do to keep up with the changing trends.

This interview will be one of just many things that I’m looking to accomplish in this coming year of 2014. Yeah, I’m looking to do more newspaper interviews in the surrounding major cities such as Shreveport and Bossier City. Not to mention, that other small cities surrounding the Minden area are on my radar also.

My goal is to educate and tell people about all of the knowledge that I have when it comes to growing a business the smart way, versus just throwing money at this advertising thing just to see what will stick.

I have realized that the small businesses who think smarter, and take advantage of online marketing such as local marketing, seo marketing, email marketing, QR Codes, and text marketing are the ones who dominate their local market.

These are the people that I’m trying to reach, and Minden Press Herald gave me that opportunity to spread the word about something most businesses don’t even know about.

minden la marketing guru Antonio Coleman

I hope this article gets businesses to start thinking about coming up with new ways to market. Me setting you up on a marketing plan is extremely easy to do if those businesses want to grow starting today.

No, you don’t have to spend more money on advertising until you see what road you must take. Advertising in the newspaper still works if you know how to relay your message. Some small businesses will tell you fast that it does work, because they just can’t see the return it’s giving them.

For those businesses in Minden who want to advertise in the Minden Press Herald, I would say give me a ring first so that I can show you exactly how to place your ads so that people will take action. Because what you need to realize as a business owner, is that you want people to take action versus always selling to them.

So, I did this interview not to sell but to educate in hopes of someone taking action in our city or the surrounding area. To end this off, I would love to say that this year will be a good one for writing my first book, which will be completed this spring and can be found on Amazon.

Plus, I have a local marketing podcast I’m working on, which will be on ITunes so stay tuned for that.

Once again, I would like to thank Minden Press Herald and Melissa Harris for all their help, and for putting together an awesome article.

Monthly Stats Report for December 2013

coleman marketing group monthly stats reportI’m so happy to bring you all another stats report from Coleman Marketing Group LLC aka CMG. My goal of doing these are only for record keeping, and so you can see every website doesn’t start off by getting 100,000 visitors per month.

Yea I have website that get those numbers but for this site it’s all new to the game so its going to take time to get this ball rolling. Last months stats report of November wasn’t all that great but showed some growth in the site.

Todays stats report is for December, and what you will see below it wasn’t a good month at all for CMG. The traffic was down, and I mean down a lot but I will explain the reasons for that later. So lets take a moment and see what happen in December.

What Happened in December?

This past month of December 2013 was just a blur to me. It came and left a little too fast me due to all the excitement. December is really a hard month to get work done when you’re not as established as other top marketing websites.

You see I’m still growing my content, readers and networking partners so my stats for this month are not good as all when it comes to growth.

The holiday spirit is in the air from kids been out of school to planing holiday parties. Now you have to make time to get gifts for the love ones, and the next thing you know its January 1.

Just for this reason my growth wasn’t what it was and yes it showed. Just getting a measly 281 visitors this past month is not good.

But this goes back to what I was saying about this is a holiday not just for me but for the entire world who celebrates this month. So my numbers are going to drop during this time of the year due to people spending more time offline than online.

Plus those that are online are doing more of shopping versus wanted to learn how to market their business locally. Even small businesses are focus more on the holidays, and looking more to the new year to start seeking out help to market their business.

Even though this was a holiday month I decided it was a perfect month to start working on my ultimate local marketing guide. I’m still working on the other chapters as of 1/5/2013 so be patient because the rest of them are coming.

I’m putting this together for small businesses can follow the exact steps on dominating their local market on their own. The top 3 local marketing strategies are local profiles, video marketing and Facebook marketing.

I’m doing full detail blog post on each, and every subject to show you how to implement this into your business. These blog post are taking a lot of time to do which really taking me from doing two blog posts per week to only one.

So overall this guide will be used at my free workshops this year so can I cover these local marketing strategies with audience. My goal is to give this away to them so it will be a blueprint platform for them to follow on doing this on their own.

Plus this will be included in my 31 tips of how to market your business guide. Not only will people learn how to dominate their local market with my 31 tips they will also get those tips explained in detailed because I will be doing long in-dept post for each tip.

Now that’s call a how to market your business guide you just can’t live without. It tells you about the 31 tips to grow your business, and then will show you step by step on how to achieve it.

December Stats

Like I said above the month of December is a tough month if you don’t already have a big online presence. This website is only 8 months old so it doesn’t have that authority to gain unlimited traffic without me working to get it.

So due to this been a holiday month on top of not having a big online presence the site just couldn’t produce enough auto traffic. I was only able to generate 281 visit this month which is not a lot at all but believe me this year of 2014 will be the break year of getting good targeted traffic.

Overall Numbers

3394 total visits from day one to now seem like a low ball of a number. I don’t like it but I do understand for a new website online I’m going through the beginning stages of growth.

I been studying marketing, and blogging for a long time now, and one thing I realize is that time is everything. Many of the top websites took a couple of years of hard marketing to see any growth so my goal for this year is to be patient but consistent.

So even though my numbers are dead in the water as of now I know by this time next year I should easily be getting over a 1,000 visitors per month. But as of now I’m scrapping the bottom of the barrel to make this website into one of the top marketing websites in the world.

Links to My Site

Every link online is just another place for someone to navigate to your site. Getting your links on as many websites you can will help you be found by many.

There are two types of link that are good that you need to be getting as a website owner. One of those links is from social network sites such as digg, Facebook and Twitter just to name a few. From here your links can be shared to hundreds, thousands or even millions of people.

The next good links that can help your site is someone linking to you. People build authority websites so if someone finds a link from their website to yours, then this can mean targeted traffic for you.

Basically at this point these are the links I’m attracting these days in the early stages of CMG. So the 572 links you see below are mostly from social sites, and a number of people linking to me. Can’t wait to see how many links I have at this time next year so stay tune.

Search Queries

Can’t say whats going on when it comes to my rankings for my search queries. One day I’m ranking for top keywords online, and the next day I’m no where to be found.

Personally my search traffic started to drop back in August 2013 which I talked about in that months stats report. The traffic has been up and down, so I’m just going to be patient and see what Google has in store for me in 2014.

2 Blog Post Per Week

Didn’t get this feat done this month due to what I described above. I sat back and completed some other projects I was working on. Most of that time in December was spent doing research, and putting together my local marketing guide.

Find the already done chapters below..

Ultimate Local Marketing Domination Guide by Antonio Coleman

How to Search for Local Keywords and Dominate the Market

December Taught Me

This past month just taught me to be more prepared next year. There are a number of things I can do to get more engagement on the site during this month. Since people spend more time online looking for items to buy I think it will be smart of me to implement things I can sell.

Now at this moment I have no clue if I will sell anything, but as of now I know given my potential readers some sort of holiday incentive will encourage more engagement and traffic.

Goals for January and 2014

For this month I’m really still looking to do more research, and setup of my very first podcast for CMG. I said it would be setup in December but after looking at a number of podcast shows that’s related to my niche I found something very interesting.

Instead of me just jumping into the fire of producing podcast I realize I need to come out the gate with at least 10 episodes already done. Plus I see something other shows are doing that I could do better. So i’m not in a rush to get it up and ruining until I have a complete game plan, but it will be up and running before my next monthly stats report.

Plus I’m hoping to continue the research for my first book on “Dominating Your Local Market” Once I complete my research from setting up my table of content and know exactly what I want every chapter to contain than I will then start the process of writing. My writing will consist of writing about 1,000 words per day until I complete this project.

Goals for the year are very simple and plan.

1. Network with 1,000 marketers

2. Get 10,000 visitors

3. Create 50 podcast shows

4. Do 15 free workshops

5. Get featured in 50 newspapers

6. Get on the radio

7. Gain 24 paying clients

8. Staying Consistent

How to Search for Local Keywords and Dominate the Market

Welcome to part one of the Ultimate Local Marketing Guide which will show you how to dominate your local market without spending more money on advertising.

This guide is about showing you the top ways of growing an online business presence to surpass the local competition. Understand if you implement these actions you will start to get tons of foot traffic, and leads coming into your place of business.

But the only way this is going to happen is for people to search for particular keywords about your business to find your products and services. So this leads me to this chapter which covers seeking out the most targeted keywords in your industry so hundreds if not thousands of customers can find you.

This is the power of having an online presence from doing video marketing, building profiles and implementing Facebook marketing. If you can create an online presence surrounding keywords, then you stand to show up first in the search engines before the other businesses in your niche.

It’s all about finding what your potential customer/clients are typing into the search engines to find what you have to offer.

Example: If someone is in Shreveport La, and looking for a daycare for their little one, then they will go to the top search engines and type in “Shreveport daycares” or “daycares in Shreveport la.”

So basically if I’m a daycare owner, I will be doing a Google search for these keywords and see who is my competition.

shreveport daycare google search

So as you can see in the screenshot above is that you should see the listing. Now see that the top 3 websites are from local profile websites. This shows me that no one in the city of Shreveport has taken the approach to dominate this market online and get those parents who are searching for a daycare in Shreveport.

We will get into the local online profiles later in this guide but as of now know that this market is wide open, and begging for someone to dominate it. So if a daycare in Shreveport and contacted me today and seeking for help to get their presence in the top spots above the listing, then I will say let’s do it.

I understand it will only take a short time for your daycare to be listed above all those another listing, and you will start sucking up all new business. The power of local marketing is what allows you to stand front in the center before your customer.

So doing good local keyword research is the starting point of growing your business. The small businesses and companies who do this are the ones who reap the benefits of unlimited targeted customers begging for your services and products.

The Power of Doing Keyword Research?

Can’t even explain to you how powerful it is to be ranked online for 10, 20 30 or even hundreds of keywords in your targeted market. You have to be open-minded to how many people could be finding you with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Being online marketing for over 13years now has given me lots of knowledge of finding these targeted keywords. From years of me using Google Adwords to market my site, and my client’s websites helped me understand keyword research so much.

Just using keywords in the right form in your title is the difference between getting 1,000 visitors per day to getting absolutely none. The only way you can grow online naturally is by putting your business in front of the search audience.

This audience uses keywords to find what they want, so this becomes the #1 way for the unknown searchers to find your business. So if you can rank for 1,000 keywords created from different durations in your title, then you steam to conquer and dominate your local market in no time.

Let’s Do the Numbers

First, don’t get scared off when I say you can rank for 1,000 keywords online. I know you might be saying this will be the hardest work ever. But to give you a simple lesson on keyword rankings I will try to explain how you will be ranking for 1,000 keywords without doing much work.

First – The search engines will rank you accordingly to the keyword you’re targeting such as the example I used in the introduction chapter of this guide which the keyword “Shreveport real estate.”

When you start to rank for “Shreveport real estate” the search engines will also rank you for other given “same” keywords in that niche such as.

  1. Shreveport real estate
  2. Shreveport la real estate
  3. Shreveport real estate homes for sale
  4. real estate Shreveport
  5. real estate Shreveport la
  6. ect…..

You see what happens is that they search engines will show some love by ranking you for your given keyword, and the next of kins. So with one keyword, you can be ranking for 10, 20 or even 100 related keywords.

So it’s really easy to have targeted the top 50 keywords in your local market and build an online presence around them. Now if you even multiply those keywords by only 20 related keywords for each of those, then you get yourself ranking for 1,000 keywords.

Now, this number could be even higher, or there is a possibility to be lower. But my experience shows me for doing this for so many years is that if you can rank locally for at least 50 keywords, then you will become the so-called “Man” in your local industry.

So How Much Traffic?

“declaimed: These are only estimates so there is no guarantee you will get these same numbers. But they are possible with consistent local marketing and the right keyword research”

Now we got that out the way lets see how much traffic could all your online platforms could be getting monthly.

The math is just an estimate, but it gives you an overview of what you can be looking forward to. So let’s say you get one visitors per day from all those 1,000 keywords you’re ranked for.

It will look something like this…

1,000×1 = 1,000 visitors per day visiting your online platforms.

Now after people visit your profiles, it’s your responsibility to have the right content in place to convert them over to buyers or clients.

Benefits from Local Searches

So how can ranking for all these targeted keywords help grow your business and bottom line? Just put you will have tons of resources online that will educate people about your products or services.

Now you have more people calling your business, and gaining more foot traffic throughout your place business which leads to more profits. Plus now you can let them know about your presence on social networks like your facebook fan page.

Now this gives you a platform to communicate with your potential customer more comfortable and for free. This something I will get more info on the Facebook Marketing Domination chapter which will blow your mind when it comes to using it to dominate your local market.

What I just explained is that you can get your business in front of 1,000 potential customers each day without spending a dime on advertising. Now tell me one other form of advertising that beat this?

So enough of all the numbers talk, let’s get down to finding these keywords and how to analyze them.

Let’s Get Started…

Now let’s say I have a real estate business in Shreveport La, and I want to build an online presence in that industry. My goal is to take my business which is located offline and turn it into a magnet for potential buyers, sellers, realtors or anyone who wants to work with me when it comes to real estate.

So the first thing I will do is to take my targeted keyword and see how many people are searching for it on Google. Now there are many other search engines such as Yahoo, Bing, and MSN, but Google is used for search about 70% to 80% of the times so the numbers we get from there will be more accurate.

The best way to do local keyword research in Google is by using the Google Keyword Planner. This tool has been around for years now even though it has a new name, but everything else about it is still somewhat the same.

how to do keyword research with keyword planer

From here you will be able to type a keyword or keyword phrase into the box and click search. The software will go out and find out how many times that keyword is searched every month. Not only that it gives you a list of related keywords that will fit right into your industry. So not only will you get results on your primary keyword but you will also inherit tons of other terms that get searched.

Here’s Is My Way of Doing It.

Now the keyword I will be going after is “Shreveport real estate.”

Once I type the keyword in the box and click “Get Ideas” the software will bring up the results. Now there will be tons of keywords to come back included my main keyword.

Hint: Most of the time you will get about 800 or so keywords to come back and these will include related terms that are too broad for your niche. But I have a solution to narrow down to just your city, town or state.

To get better search results, you must head over to the left-hand column, and click on Include/Exclude. From here you can type in your central city, town or state you want to rank in. After doing this, the system will only include keywords that targeted to your local market.

So as you can see below instead of having those 800 keywords that come up at first now I’m filtered down to 134 local keyword phrases. Next, I will sort them by clicking on the “Avg…monthly searches” Now my keyword are listed from the most searched down to the lowest term.

With this information, I’m able to tackle an online marketing campaign and dominate this market just by going after these keywords. First by targeting my main keyword, and then focusing on the other ones, but I will get more into those later in this chapters.

What you need to do now is to save these keywords by downloading them to your computer for later use. “You will see the download link on the right.”

Let’s Analyze Main Keyword

Obviously, my main keyword is “Shreveport real estate” so let’s go to google and search that term and see whom am I competing with.

Now if you’re looking at the screenshot, then you will see a couple of results. There three google places listing here at the bottom. These are mainly created automatically by the search engines which go out and find local businesses and create free profiles for them.

No matter what type of local business or industry you search for there will be google places listing most of the time in the top results. Under those listings will be the organic results which include websites, local directories, and videos. This is the spot we want to be in which can outrank those Google places which are listed first. Like I said before we will cover that in more details in the coming chapters.

But for now, we are just analyzing the keyword to see who we have to compete with. Now I’m about to take a look at what’s on the page such as does a YouTube video takes up one of the top spots? “No, It Doesn’t”

So are there any local business directories on the page that list directly to a certain business? “No, It Doesn’t” You may be saying there are some directories on the page, and I will say you are right because nearly all of them are directories.

This Means What?

It means that this keyword is a winner in the form of it passing the “eye test” saying there were no SEO techniques used to analyze these properties for competition strengthen.

Hint: If SEO is something you want to learn more about for FREE versusspending thousands of dollars on training which is what I charge my clients. Is to check out the SEO in Practice ebook that covers SEO from A to Z.

But what this shows is that I have 134 keywords, and doing the right marketing online will put my brand in-front of thousands of people every month. Just with my main keyword “Shreveport real estate” gets over 1,900 searches per month. Just that keyword alone will be enough to get quality people interested in my real estate business.

Unfortunately, I’m in the business of dominating local markets, so I what to not only tackle that keyword but also go after the other 133 keywords over time. So when it’s all said and done, I could have my properties in front of over 5k to 10k people every month searching for my services.

How powerful is that?

Bonus Tools:

UberSuggest.org – This tool is 100% free and easy to use if you want to find different variations of your keyword. It’s so powerful I can’t even believe its free to use, but it so takes advantage of it to find even more long tail keywords.

Local Marketing Source Keyword Tool – I haven’t used this tool at all just to clarify that, but I felt it was still wise to list it if you want to dig deeper into finding those golden nuggets of keywords.

 My Recommendation

My only goal is to explain local keyword research most simply so all people will understand it. I could have gone more into details which will have to confuse many people so I kept this at a level so any, and everyone who comes across this could take action on.

So the goal you have today is to search for your primary term you think your potential customer will type into the search engine to find your products or services. Now you have those keyword people are typing in so now its time to start building on the online presence.

Now, most people who are experienced in online marketers will tell you that doing intense research on the top websites is vital to rank easier and faster. The answer is that their correct that doing more in-depth research helps you understand your competitors even better.

What I will say if you’re targeting a local market in a town, city or even sometimes a state. You don’t have to do that much research because of the properties you will be using to outrank the local competition. But if you were trying to rank for the keyword “real estate” then we’re talking about a whole new ball game and that SEO in Practice ebook will most surely come in handy.

So here you have the blueprint into finding targeting keywords that you can use to become a dormancy force in your local market. In the next coming chapter, we focus on putting all this together by using directory profiles, video marketing, Facebook marketing and a particular bonus chapter I put together.

My goal is to see you succeed so if you need to ask a question then just leave a comment on my Ask Antonio page. Plus I like to know who’s reading CMG so if you have a moment then run over to my introduce yourself page and say Hi.
