How I Balance a 9 to 5 and Grow My Online Business all in One Motion

How I Balance a 9 to 5 and Grow My Online Business all in One MotionWhen I started this website it was solely created for my business of helping people/small businesses grow their brand through creative marketing. This marketing stands from having a website, doing seo, implementing email marketing and a number of other traffic building tacts. These were the basis of things that I wanted to share because they’re the things that will help grow my revenue.

You have to realize that marketing is the center stone of my everyday life, and maybe it will be until the end of time because I just love it so much. There are things that I want to share that has nothing to do with online marketing at all. I told myself that with this website I wanted to educate the world on marketing but I also wanted to be transparent and talk about my life as I grow this business.

You see I feel as though if people can see around those curtains and reserve what’s really going on, then they may get a better picture of who you are. I want people to know who I am just to let you know that I’m an average guy who is juggling a full time 9 to 5 and working on my businesses (Coleman Marketing Group LLC) all in the same motion.

One thing I like the most are the people who keep it so called real, and don’t hide behind fake websites with over blown website stats. These are the people who sell you that dream of how easy it is to make a living online by online working 1 hour a day. Not saying that you can’t work one hour a day and make a good living online, I’m just saying it goes a lot deeper than that.

To be honest I will be showing you how you can work one hour a day and still be productive online, but I will be writing about that later. To stay posted on that then just get my free “SEO in Practice” ebook to the right and you will be notified by email when I create that post.

So to get back to the topic in hand I would like to give you guys a front row seat of my life of how I’m working full time and growing my business at the same time. The whole reason behind this post is to educate you on if you’re working just like I am, then you still can have an online business if you can manage time. I personally give no excursus on holding myself on the highest pedestal of productivity, and I understand no one can hold me back except me.

So for this reason before I get into how the day of Antonio Coleman goes from A to Z, I would like you to take out 9min of your time and check out one of the best motivational videos online. It hasn’t been seen over 2 million times for nothing. Seeing this video will make you understand the reason why I stick to the schedule that I do below, and the reason why you shouldn’t have any excuses in making time for your dreams. Check it out.

Working Hard

First, I would like to say that I went out and purchased a big dry erase board over a year ago to keep up with my daily tasks. For those of you who are bad at staying on task then getting one of these boards will make your life so much easier. Basically all I do is write down all my tasks for that week that concerns my online marketing business which I must stick to if I want to be productive.

Plus, to give you a heads up, the total number of hours I must spend each week on my business is around 20 hours a week while working a full time job. So to give you an understanding of it I’m working a total of 60 hours per week to maintain a living while I grow my business. You will not believe how hard this is, but I’m about to show you how I tackle all parts of it.

Remember this..I’m also doing this around living my life so it gets a little complicated but this is how I have mastered it.

Going to Work

5:20am: My day starts around 5:20am I get up and head off to work, which I get there around 6 or so and start my day which can last anywhere from 8 to 10 hours. Now right off the back I have eliminated a full day at work by working outside the home to maintain life as the business continues to grow.

2:00pm: From here I get off working the so called real job that most people like to call it. They really don’t consider working online is a real job because you don’t have to clock in and out. Basically, I get off working and hurry up and jump on my laptop to take about 15 minutes each day checking emails. This is all of the time that I spend on emails each day, which is 15 minutes because if you want to be productive then you have to minimize doing things that just waste your time.

Next, I spend an hour and a half writing for this website, which I do only twice a week. Meaning, I’m only writing content for this website for a total of three hours per week which is a good number if I want to get the most out of my writing. It forces me to get my ideas out asap and move on to something else. Now the time is around 3:30 and I have already gotten in about one hour and forth five minutes of work before even getting home.

Even after getting home I have tons of things to do, and it may be around 4 or so which is practice time. My son and daughter are awesome athletics and they play sports so to stay on top of our game I must practice and workout with them five days week. Yelp that is five days a week if I want to them to have the tools to be successful on and off the court and fields.

So until at least bout 6pm I’m working out and practicing, but now it’s time to kick into high gear and get some more work done. Depending on the part of week I might go into doing some networking online for about 4 hours a week. On a day like this, I only want to do no more than an hour and a half and make up the rest throughout the week so that it adds up to 4 hours.

Now it’s 7:30 and I completed my networking which I will be showing you guys how to do on this website in the coming weeks. Now it’s been a tough day where I have worked at my real job for 8 hours and completed my business work in 3 hours in 15 minutes. This is called being incredible productive.

Now, the other hours are spent doing seo for myself and other clients that I have, which is only around 5 hours a week total. I’m doing a case study on how I’m able to dominate the search engine by getting one of my website pages to the top of Google by doing SEO. Here is the case study if you want to follow along.

Plus, I say 1/3 of those 20 hours I spend working online comes from me doing about 6 hours of guest posting. If you’re not sure what guest posting is, then just imagine I’m writing something and asking you to put it on your website so I can benefit from your current readers and mostly importantly a backlink to my website. So I call this piggy back marketing which I explain more in my “how to market your business guide” I did some time back.

Staying Consistent

Now as you can see, if you take that number of me working 3 hours and 15 minute per day, and multiply it by 7 days of week you will get over 21 hours of online work. To be honest, some days are longer and some are shorter, meaning one day I might work online for 2 hours and others it maybe 4 hours. But overall it adds up to a way that allows me to have a so-called 9 to 5 and grow my business all in one motion.

This shows that I can have my cake and eat it to right? I can have that job that keeps everything balanced until those numbers of my online business grows to where it allows me to step away one day. The truth is that a job is exactly what it is, which is a JOB. You work for someone else and they pay you pennies compared to what they make which is fair right?

I see a job as a place I go to where it educates me, and motivates me even more to keep pushing on in my online business. When I hear people complain everyday about how they hate their job and wish they could find something more appealing to them. What I say if you hate this job, then you will hate the next one also so why continue to sing the same song.

Why not start your own business online and reap the benefits of having passive income. If you need help getting started and don’t want to waste your money on things that just don’t work, then contact me I will help you get that ball rolling. Being transparent is my goal for this website which is what I will continue to do by spreading the word about marketing.

If you want to be successful in life, then you must go out and become an owner of something, because all the successful people are the ones who own it.

· Their successful because they own real estate

· There successful because they own that beauty salon

· Their successful because they started that home based business

Look, my fingers are about to fall off because I’m over 1600 words for this post, so let me wrap it up by saying the following. If you can go out and put in 8 to 12 hours a day for someone who cares less about you, and only want you to work to make them rich, then why not turn some of those hours into growing your success..I am so join me

  1. Antonio why did you go out and get a job, aren’t you the ONLINE BUSINESS SEO WHIZ?

I see where you’re coming from though, since you already have passive income from your online business asset you’re just doing the job to learn…pick up some more skills. Good idea, but once I go full time in my business I’ll never go back to a 9 to 5!

    • Yo Nick

The job opportunity just came to me one day when I was out and about. I was asked about coming aboard at a local company so I took it. It didn’t effect my online marketing at all so I knew it would be something I could dedicate a portion of my time to. Plus just because you know SEO it doesn’t have anything to do with working a job. You can still have your cake an eat it to if you have goals of working and plus running a full time online business.
